Korean Artificial Intelligence Robot, Aglio Kim, serves customers at Seoul restaurant amid Covid-19 restrictions (video).
Aglio Kim is a robot which uses artificial intelligence (A.I.) in serving food and drinks to customers at a restaurant in Seoul.
The trolley-robot Aglio Kim is designed the goal of reducing human contact and ensuring social distancing rules at Seoul restaurants.
“Aglio Kim”, a trolley-like robot which uses artificial intelligence (A.I.), distributes food to customers at Seoul restaurants, in order to minimise human contact and help ensure social distancing.
First, the customers make their orders through a touch-screen on the table, and the message is relayed to the robot.
Kim brings the food and drinks by employing its visual SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) abilities, navigating through obstacles and seating arrangements to get to the target customer.
Mad for Garlic Restaurant has tested the robot this month and was impressed by the responses from elated clients.
Lee Young-ho, a top personality at Mad for Garlic restaurant, says diners and customers considered the robot’s food delivery as a safer option to human contact in this era of covid-19. They also said the experience is interesting and unique.
The deployment of the robot comes as restaurants and cafes reopen under strict Coronavirus rules in densely-populated Seoul metropolitan centres.
Korean bistros must allow 2 metres between tables and keep a record of patrons’ names, contact details, and other necessary biometric if there is need for contact tracing.
Seoul authorities have already been doing a good job in keeping Coronavirus’ figures low.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced 106 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, bringing the country’s total of infections to 22,391 367 deaths.
The 1.25-meter-tall Aglio Kim A.I. robot is developed by South Korean telecoms company KT Corp.
KT’s AI Platform Business Team head Lee Young-jin tells Reuters that the A.I. robot can deliver food to up to 4 tables simultaneously.
The Kim robot is armed food trays which can carry up to 30 kilograms of meals.
It also has an LCD screen and a multilingual speaker that can communicate in both Korean and English.
KT has announced that they aim to supply more robots for restaurants in 2020. They also plan to unveil another A.I. model voice recognition technology in early 2021.
