Kylie Jenner, 23, sparked outrage on social media outlets after asking her fans and followers to donate to a GoFundMe for her friend and makeup artist Samuel Rauda.
The reality starlet [ an estimated net worth of $900million (£649m) drew much criticism for suggesting her loyal followers and fans dig deep into their pockets to support injured Samuel Rauda, while giving away just $5,000 herself.
Rauda is a 26-year-old makeup artist whose clients include Kylie Jenner, Chrissy Teigen, and Khloe Kardashian. He is reported to have been seriously injured in a road traffic accident last weekend.
He underwent extensive surgery on 14 March, according to his family. His family and friends have since set up a GoFundMe page in order to foot the medical bills of the operation.
Samuel had the mishap earlier this month and hit his head on a pavement, which caused internal bleeding and brain traumas.
One of his friends confirmed the “awful accident”, saying Samuel “flew off a moving vehicle and crushed his head into the pavement”.
He had surgery on his injuries and now his family has shared a GoFundMe, hoping to raise $120,000 for his medical bills. It currently sits at just over $97,000.
Kylie Jenner has 222 million followers on Instagram alone
Kylie drew the ire of her fans after they learned of the seemingly paltry amount she donated towards the recovery efforts of the makeup artist.
She had shared the page on her Instagram story for her 222 million followers earlier this week and wrote:
“May God watch over you and protect you @makeupbysamuel. Everyone take a moment to say a prayer for Sam, who got into an accident this past weekend. And swipe up to visit his family’s GoFundMe.”
Kylie Jenner’s request sparked outrage online following a request for her fans to donate to a crowdfunding to pay for her stylist’s emergency surgery–despite apparently giving just $5,000 herself.
The “self-made billionaire”, who was alleged to be earning $1.2m per Instagram post in 2019, drew widespread backlash after she took to Instagram Live to ask her followers to help raise $60,000 for Samuel Rauda’s treatment.
