Canada Guns Ban: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces new legislation to strengthen gun control
Canada’s prime minister announced proposed legislation on Monday that would put a national freeze on importing, buying or selling handguns. The legislation would also “allow for the removal of gun licenses from people involved in acts of domestic violence or criminal harassment,” according to the Associated Press. The government is also aiming to combat gun smuggling and trafficking.
The President tweeted this:
One Canadian killed by gun violence is one too many. That’s why we’ve banned 1,500 types of military-style assault firearms. And that’s why, today, we’ve introduced legislation to further strengthen gun control in Canada.

Bill C-21 will implement a national freeze on handguns, tackle organized crime, address the role of guns in gender based violence and more. pic.twitter.com/2OXnt6ec8Q
Introducing legislation to forbid sale of handguns because of a mass shooting in a different country using a gun that’s already banned in Canada.
